The electronic-experimental-math-rock project from Simeon Bartholomew is touring Australia during December, following high profile supports for the likes of Tortoise and Regurgitator in recent times. The ‘3’ record is out now through Birds Robe and Art as Catharsis records.

SEIMS will perform at the sold out Bahamas Fest in Japan, before undertaking side shows in Shinjuku and Minato in November and then will be followed by an east coast tour of Australia, including shows with post-rock legends We Lost The Sea and Melbourne space-rock groove kings Oolluu.

SEIMS will be performing in Melbourne at The Catfish December 1, Fat Louie’s in Brisbane December 2 and Tickets are now on sale/nearly sold out for the December 8 Sydney show at the Lansdowne at Oztix.

The new album ‘3’ features the multi-instrumentalist bringing on board collaborators such as drummer Chris Allison and vocalist Wartime Sweethearts for the first time.

Having been compared to Battles, Mr. Bungle and The Physics House Band, SEIMS have established a unique musical identity, including energetic live shows driven by Sim’s frenetic bass playing.

Simeon says of the project – “If you’re a fan of this project, it’s most likely because of the unconventional nature of our music. This ‘math-pop’ collaboration is no exception. The new album features three mammoth math-rock monsters, beginning with the chaotic tint-shifting nature of Cyan, followed by the smooth, saturated soundscapes of Magenta, and then the 13 minute grandiose, illuminating, reigning havoc that is Yellow.

Imperfect Black is the end result of mixing all three colours together, and what’s left is a murky darkness (hence why you’ll always get a separate ‘absolute’ black cartridge with your printer ink). Whether you’re on a downward slope with a partner, a relative, a co-worker, a friend, or even by yourself, it’s easy to lose sight and get swallowed into the void that is your absolute black. This song is about journeying into the void of the unknown, and embracing it, building on it, and appreciating it.

Being the concept album that it is, it seemed only natural to force myself into my own Imperfect Black – and here is the result. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”
