This is the debut EP from Manchester three piece All the King’s Men. With influences including Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Doors, the band bring out the classic rock and roll sound adding their own edge to make the sound their own.
‘Fever’ is a lively rock and roll offering sounding like ZZ Top crossed with the Specials. The band show off their charm with great rocking energy combined with a certain vintage feel.
‘City lights’ builds on the energy. Reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz the band put out a full and tight sound that will get you nodding away from the very beginning.
‘Someday’ is the EP’s ballad. Taking on a softer and more laid back approach the song had a dreamy hazy feel, giving it a nice depth while still possessing some great rock sounds.
‘My mother’s son’ takes on a darker feel, with a subtly sinister feel flowing through the verses, finishing off with a dream David Gilmour-esq guitar solo!
The EP closes with the soft and dreamy title track. Moving at a slower pace the track has great calming and relaxing feel to it, winding the EP down nicely.
This is a great EP consisting of 5 rocking tunes. The band have taken some true and tested elements of rock and roll and added their own special twist to them!
