Dunedin three piece Die! Die! Die! have returned with an EP worth of noisy and hard hitting punk rock. They will be following the release up with an Australian tour in the new year! Tomatrax caught up with Andrew Wilson from the band to ask a few questions.

You’ve just released your latest EP, what’s it like to have it out?

Its great to release anything these days! WDYE Wasnt really a planned release so i am happy it is alive.

What made you pick ‘What did you expect’ as the title track?

Well it sorta made me Laugh. Also whenever we release something new someone always comments on how we should have changed more or have changed too much. So i think its a fitting title for a DDD release. haha
I also really like the song and the song wasnt called that originally. But Rory named it that when he sent the mixes back and i preferred that title.

What was the inspiration behind the EPs front cover?
I wanted colour and birds. Because this Ep i think sounds more free and colourful. I think the artist did such an amazing job.

What inspired you to film the ‘Dark Arrow’ video in the Ukraine?

Our friend Dylan was going there for work. I wish there was a better story behind it!

You toured round Europe earlier this year, how did that go?

Amazing it was the easiest European tour we have ever done. It was like a chilled summer holiday…….

Is there anywhere else you’ve wanted to tour but are yet to?
Yeah I really wanna tour Russia. We had shows booked there in 2011 but we had to cancel them. Hopefully we can make them happen again oneday!
I also really wanna play in south America!

You’ll be touring Australia next month, what can fans expect from your show?
We will be playing alot of Old Songs and very new songs. haha
Im really excited. I hope you are as well.

What’s the music scene like in Dunedin?
The best it has ever been.

Where did the name Die! Die! Die! come from?
We needed a name to stand out in small towns in Dunedin. We were teenagers and no one could pronounce our other band name RAWER.

Do you ever listen to your own music?
I try not too.

What music do you listen to?
At the moments i have been listening to a lot of the stranglers, the Wipers and Patti smith.

What do you have planned after your upcoming tour?

I’m gonna try and finish my solo album and hopefully die die die will have an album finished as well!
