Isle of Mann’s heavy alt-rockers, or Zebracore band as they like to call themselves, Postcode recently recorded a session for internet radio station Dandelion Radio. This EP shows off 5 tracks played over this session. The band show off their great raw sound that is full of energy and atmosphere.
‘Simple things’ is a deep dark encounter bursting with eerie atmosphere. Reminiscent of Siouxsie and the Banshees there is a great roaring energy that drags you in from the beginning and takings you along a racing journey you won’t want to let go of. This is followed by the no-wave post punk sounds of ‘Reds’. With the distorting guitars blasting out the song creates an enormous and surrounding wall of sound that is hazy and hypnotic.
‘The hallow’ is a slow and melancholic tune full of emotion and passion. As the song slowly moves past, every bit of agony and despair can be felt, with the pent up rage finally exploding into a big rock out towards the end. ‘Four years’ is in contrast a great lively tune, racing along with a tight beat and rocking atmosphere it is the sort of song that will get your toes tapping and then being unable to stop. The set closes with the heavy and chaotic sounds of ‘Donny’. This sees the band reach their energetic and noisy climax with absolutely nothing being held back!
This is a sensational live set that will take you off into a haze with great energy and power. There are no dull moments here as the band display all manner of soundscapes full of emotion and energy!
