This is the debut EP from Josh Romig’s brain child Blue Sun. On offer are a collection of well crafted and solid pop/rock tunes. The band have something of an Australian all-stars look to them them with Tex Perkin’s guitarist Shane Reilly,  Jodie Lane’s bassist Roger Bergadoz; and Paul Kelly drummer Pete Marin making up the quartet. Each brings in their musical talent to back Josh Romig’s song up brilliantly and get the best out of them!

Real Boy is a catchy and rocking tune in the vein of Powerfinger’s early. There’s a lot of energy with a great contrast of heavy and mellow moments flowing together seamlessly. Lockaway Light is a solid rock ballad with all the polished trimmings to make it a solid radio tune. Rio sees John Roming show off his vocal range with a good use of high and low notes explored and everything in-between. This is backed up with a dark and echoing soundtrack that adds a great eerie atmosphere to the sound. The EP closes with the soft and laid back Locked in a cage.

This is a very promising EP full of some great tunes. We’ll know doubt be hearing a lot more from Blue Sun in the not too distant future.
